One Day Boat Cruise
Take a boat trip and cruise around the lake is a must do in Inle Lake. We booked the boat (at the market in Nyaung Shwe) a day before and share with a French couple and another German traveler we met. The price we agreed with the boatman is 20,000 kyat. The boat trip will start early morning until dusk, including a place called Indein Village (or Indain) on the western bank of Inlay Lake, Nyaung Shwe and Nampan to the South
Below some view from the Lake in the morning. The whole experience is just incredible!
We visited some touristy spot like In Paw Khone Silk Weaving, Black Smith, Paper Umbrella, Ywama (Long Neck Woman) as well but didn’t buy anything as the things they sell are not cheap, backpacker like us can’t afford haha.
After that we go to the local market. We were told that the market will happen at different location everyday. The locals gather here to buy and sell their products… Cows, pigs and chicken are running around… They always look at me and Danny and wondering if we are locals too as we Asian especially tanned Chinese look the same everywhere 😛
After the market, we visit some other tourist spots
Then we head for lunch at Shwe Yamin Restaurant
The food is delicious but slightly expensive. Overall it’s worth the whole experience.
After lunch we head to Indein Village on the western bank of Inle Lake. The journey to the village is fascinating. The water below looks a little bit turquoise or greenish here. We see a lot of life going by the river, buffalos dipping, kids fishing & showering, woman washing their clothes… There are a few beaches beside the river makes me feel like going for a swim as well but the water is too cold for me.
After about 40 minutes boat we arrived at the village. There’s a few stalls selling souvenirs and painting just like any other tourist place. Not too bad here, still not as touristy. We head straight to the hill for the temple – Shwe Inn Dain Pagoda, famous for the original stupa donated by King Siri Dharma Sawka in 273-232 BC. It’s peaceful and beautiful up there on the hill. We spent more time than we expected. There’s also a eastern stairway about 2000 feet long have fun walking.
After Indein, we went to floating garden and other temple like Phaung Daw Oo.
Then we have a sunset moment in the middle of Inle Lake
We end the night with a decent western dinner
